Cambs reviews

Post by tony laud on Mon Feb 02, 2015 2:41 pm

Still conducting injury award reviews and the suggested employment are still far too highly paid and the individuals are not qualified for the posts. This though may come to a end in the new financial year as the current post within OHU is likely to go and the Force will not instigate any reviews.

Do you know how many reviews have been held under the new policy - that is since the Home Office 'told' all forces to suspend reviews back in March 2010?

You mentioned three PMAB cases in another post. Have they been concluded, and what were the results?

It seems that although there are new people in charge they still believe in the old maxim of 'treat them like mushrooms, keep them in the dark'. In fact, they don't even bother to feed any b*****t any more. Complete lack of information.  There must be IOD pensioners out there who worry constantly about reviews and it would be good if they were told what was going on.

From what I can establish about 7 total this includes the three above. Of the others 1 more is now likely to go to PMAB, 1 had an increase in her percentage but not her Band. The other two have remained the same.

None of the outstanding PMAB cases have yet been heard, the first is this Friday and involves being dropped from a 4 to a 2. It will all revolve around there being no substantial change to the persons medical condition and part two that the jobs suggested are too highly qualified

Well, the new policy seems to be working. Such a small number of reviews is welcome news and must bring relief to disabled former officers who have over recent years had to bear enormous stress and uncertainty through having the constant threat of repeated intrusive and damaging reviews.

However, from the figures you quote it seems that something is not quite right with the reviews that have been held. It works out at something more than 50% have caused the individuals concerned to lodge an appeal.

As you will know, nobody casually or lightheartedly sets off down the PMAB path. It is an ordeal for even the most courageous and determined and not something damaged, vulnerable individuals would readily contemplate. The fact that around half of those reviewed are willing to take issues to appeal speaks volumes of the confidence they must feel in the support that you and the Federation are supplying.

The question never-the-less remains - why so many appeals, percentage-wise? Could we find the answer by looking at the quality and knowldge, or lack of same, exhibited by the force's contracted SMP?
