Backdated IOD award.

Post by Roger.P on Wed Jul 26, 2017 1:44 pm

Can anyone give me an answer to a simple question please.
I was medically retired in 2005 due to work related PTSD. The police authority were aware of my claims that it was work related. I was very ill and never even considered applying for an IOD. I just wanted away from the police. They treated me very badly.
I did not realise until last year that I should be receiving an IOD award. I applied for one and have just been told that I will get it but that it will only be backdated to last year so in effect I lose 11 years of the award.
Are the police correct in doing this as they knew of my claim at the time I retired and it is well documented. Can anyone point me to the law that states this is correct or not.
Thanks in anticipation.
