Mental Health Issues in the Police Service.

Post by Beachcomber on Sun Jan 03, 2016 7:13 pm

The subject of mental health issues has often arisen on this forum. Usually this has related to IOD's where the condition has amounted to an injury on duty, although the pressures placed on ex officers during the last few years have reportedly has caused anxiety, stress and depression etc. Increasingly we have had serving officers contact IOD representatives and posting on the forum seeking help.

One of our members has circulated the following link for our attention and perusal of the blog will be certain to strike a chord amongst some of our correspondents. Some of the experiences described are likely to mirror, or at least be familiar, to their own experiences.

Pensions contributions when on no pay

Post by elysia on Wed Jul 13, 2016 12:50 pm

Dear All,

serving officer of 27 years and been on long term ill health for a year. Get my 28 in, in August.

Is it right you dont pay contributions when on no pay? does this effect the pension if i dont get my 28years anybody going through anything similar.

They wont retire me on ill health ( i have long term depression brought on by work matters)

They wont let me resign because Im on gross misconduct ( 3year investigation been through once cleared of everying thing then an IPCC investigation)

I dont know which way to go as the contact and dealing with them makes the depression worse catch 22 !!!
